Kokanee in the spawning channel

Nature just amazes me as it makes these fish
swim up a creek, turn color and die after all
their hard labors.

Florence and Gilbert came for a visit

We went to Sandspit to see the Kokanee spawning.
The spawning channel is just full of very small fish.

The Fire on the Slocan Bluffs

This was taken looking straight up from the car
window.

This shot was taken as we drove down the road
and that very little speck you can see in the
sky at the right of the photo is not a bug on the
windshield but a helicopter with a bucket of
water underneath that it picked up in the lake to
dump on the fire.

Here is the little helicopter speck coming closer

And here as we drove away we could see some
bits burning just on the side of the road.

My birthday bouquet

This shot from far enough away to see
the balloon...

And this one close enough to see the
most incredible arrangement that
I have ever been given! Thanks

And here's the visit that I made today

She'll figure out what that camera means
before too long!

More of the party

Lorraine with Vicky

Surprise guests from Richmond

Lorraine is almost finished opening her gifts

Lorraine's next 50th birthday party

Lorraine was truly surprised and enjoyed all
of her guests as well as all of her presents
- lovely potluck dinner

Pam made a little speech and looks like Lorraine
slept through it!

The Money Tree fiasco

I was SOOOO proud of the little envelopes that
I created to hold all those loonies!

We played "Pass the Glasses"

Lorraine's first 50th birthday party

These are the lovely glasses that a caring friend
brought for Lorraine's enjoyment

And there's the caring friend now!

More of the gang - the one in front was
apparently in charge of music. And she lived right
up to the level of responsibility placed upon her
shoulders.

Yes, I lent my camera to someone.

Doesn't the tiara suit her?

River Rafting

Gord and Deanne are investigating the raft.

Carrying the raft down to the river.

Our guide Kevin getting ready.

Learning about safety on the river.

Kevin took this shot of the whole gang - Wanda,
Vern, Karen, Misty, Christa, Trevor with
Deanne, Gord and Wanda behind.

July 1 fireworks

We were invited to Mike and Marlene's to watch
the fireworks from their deck. The lights from
the bridge make the view spectacular.

The City of Nelson did a fine job!

Walking on the beach at Lakeside Park

Gord says that Taghum has shrunk since
he was there when he was 12.

And waiting at the Dairy Queen - one of the
few remaining outdoor ice cream only locations.

Folks that were there for the steaks

We were introduced to Trevor. I always feel
a bit sorry for new people when they come into
our family gatherings - what will they think of
our humor?

Steve and Adele

Kim with Christa's new baby - Corby

Even my mother couldn't believe that I would
volunteer to hold a dog - that's how cute she is.

Steve has 2 sweet babies - Casey and Corby

There's only one baby but everyone wants
