Shirley's going-away party
We held off the tears quite nicely for a while
She actually ate some of my brownie! I thought
that was a really safe offer!
We had the party at Deb's place and a tree
almost fell on the cars.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch
Florence and her uncle Don came to visit and
Cottonwood Falls was just about at its peak
while they were here.
Jim and Kim came for a dinner.
Gordon came over to help with the
vacuum cleaner because I couldn't
remember how to get the top off
the power bar. It is soooo simple.
Apparently I am too. I think that I
should take it off about once a month
so that I don't forget how.

This was our only photo op in New Zealand,
at Auckland. Looks like a spot we should spend
some more time in, one day.
A lovely tree on the riverbank - a man
from Melbourne took this same photo
and was going home to paint it so I
thought that I'd better take the same
photo, the difference being that I will
never paint it.
Just as we were coming up the bank to the golf
course parking lot we saw this wallaby from
the car window.
One last dinner with the gang.
We let someone else cook this one.

I don't think that I will ever have enough time
to do it justice.
This plane looks as though it is ready to land
in the parking lot at the RS&L club
But it really has already landed. Jen told us that
it was the actual plane that was used to bring
home the last soldiers from WWII
Birthday time!
Going for a walk the night before we left. This
seemingly wilderness area is a park just across
the river from the 45 hole golf course - the
biggest in all Australia

I had never seen a truck with a snorkel before
but then found out that is likely because I am
female and have never noticed. There are a
lot of Aus trucks that have them and most of
the guys that I showed this photo have already
seen them (or just won't admit that they hadn't)
Our local paper will print photos of people in faraway
places reading it so I took these next two just
for that purpose.

The playground is right on the foreshore
with sails overhead to keep out some of the sun

The gum tree standing sentinel near the foreshore.
Because it is a man-made lake they were able to put
in a wooden barrier at the edge so that the grass
grows right to the edge, except where people have
made a pathway.
Cockatoos - just as noisy and bothersome as our local crows
